A Brief History of Copyright — Part 1
Arthur Meiselman

perspectives

writings: note

December 2014

Possession is 9/10ths of the law and 10/10ths of possession.

Intellectual property does not exist. The intellect owns nothing other than its own awareness.

Notice of copyright has been found in the earliest writings including the hands in ancient cave paintings.

Socrates was murdered because he believed in copyrighting the truth.

Bob Dylan spells copyright with a w.

Shakespeare did not copyright his works, which means he probably didn’t write them, did he?.

In 2012 Vladimir Umanets wrote a large black-lettered message on a Rothko painting. A year before, Uriel Landeros spray-painted an image on a Picasso. Both of these morons contended they were increasing the value of the works. They not only violated the copyrights of these works, they were in fact raping the artists under the influence of a death-dooming drug and virus that is destroying copyright: “mashing”.

“Mashing, the Mashup” is the theft of pieces of works and writing and music by mashers. Adolescents and adolescent-arrested adults love mashing.

The ubiquitous, anonymous, uncontrollable Internet is a playground. It is also devolving copyright.

In five years there will be nothing to discuss regarding copyright.

Before that happens, I’m going to copyright my Mother. She deserves at least that.
