In today's panorama of comedies in Brazilian theatre, there are some groups who challenge themselves to try a drama theatre on psychology aspects. One of those groups is Casa 7, directed by Renato Carrera. After a year of research, they finally premiered a new play: AUTOPSIA. Carrera and his theatre company had created a performance which has the family as theme. Theoretic and scenic research had resulted in a violent performance of strong physical composition, as he says: "the actor is everything and delivers himself, he's the one and only, nothing more seems to compose the scene; the actor is dominant".

But what is the story about? Is there a story? Yes, he explains: "Three sisters.  The younger is dying.  Everybody is waiting for her death, although nurturing her. The maid knows that these are the last moments with the family. But a neighbor comes in and deconstructs the situation, all that family's secret arise. The family is dominated by a cold and authoritarian woman. They are prisoners by blood. What inner desires could a family hide?"

The audience is placed inside the scene. They are part of it. That's why no more than thirty spectators are allowed at a performance. Theatre as one's own experience.

Carrera built the script based in Ingmar Bergman's 1972 film "Cries and Whispers"(Viskningar och rop), mixed with remembrances of his own family. Fiction and reality. Some questions guided the director during the work: What does today's modern world stands for? The old values failed, but are they gone? Actually, what has changed in family and in society?  To think about these questions, without  answering them, demands great skill. Carrera chooses to provoke these issues on stage.

It seems that Carrera masters his work with themes that are difficult to draw a consensus of opinion. One of his recent performances, a one-man show about loneliness, was QUADROS SOLTOS PODEM DESPENCAR. The next is about slavery, starting from the Brazilian romantic poet, Antonio de Castro Alves.  It is theatre that touches on deep questions, the theatre of the human question on stage.
