W.H. Auden—Happy Birthday, Wystan

Kathi Wolfe is clearly becoming one of our nation's best essayists/reviewers. She has the secret that cannot be learned that we can only hear profound remarks if said in an off-hand way. She has the subtle art of understatement. Even tragedy benefits at her hand. I like WH AUDEN now, better than I did before, because, through this writing, he sat at a bar with Kathi finally off Mt. Olympus.
