The Art of Smoking Cigarettes

You're such a brave guy! As a "recovering addict" I just want to say it has been a lonnnnggg time and I miss my "tobacco-lover" soooo much! The hell with it all, I'm lighting up again. And I believe you--with the terrorist invasion of Bushism the dark clouds are gathering, and I am collecting as many packs and cartons as I can and cleaning up the bomb shelter that my Poppa built in the '50s. There I will retreat and hide in a cloud of enlightened smoke until the second coming--or will it be the third. George Orwell was right!

Histories of Violence

Thank you for another excellent review. I truly enjoy your reviews every month, whether I have seen the films or not. They are perceptive and thoroughly entertaining. I hope when Roger Ebert finally steps down, they will look to you to replace him. You will be a more than worthy successor.

Histories of Violence-American Gangster

By the way, I'll be very interested in reading your review of "American Gangster" which I hope you will do.

Reading

Delightful writing makes for delightful reading and that is what Kathi Wolfe does. It is too bad and too sad that reading, and writing for that matter, is disappearing in the blizzard of email and text messaging. Is anyone even talking to anyone anymore?

Herbie Howell

I was a filmmaker who made Nashville Sound and who found Herbie Howell and who filmed him. What a beautiful moment in time and what a beautiful guy. I lost touch with him unfortunately and cannot answer your query regarding what ever happened to him. Nashville was a hard place back then and those recording execs were tough guys. We got them to pay attention. We never heard the results.

Patterns of Recognition

Interesting and provoking thoughts. Well presented. Where can I find more resources on this?
