Writing Plays In A Time of War
In my recent work I have noticed a level of anger in the words and actions unlike anything I've drafted before.  It is not just anger fed by September 11.  It is also anger fed by the stupidities that have followed — in the bombing of Afghanistan, the multiple political hypocrisies, the pointlessness of a war on terrorism by using the means of terrorism.

Up The Carriage Trade! - Redux
I'll take the lower class audiences – they make a playwright's writing-agony worth agonizing over – they make an actor's performance worth its salt – and they don't give a damn about directors and dramaturgs and all the other frou-frou functionaries who get in between them and the live bodies on stage. On with the show! And I'll take the upper class audiences too, of course.

Great Performances

Les Marcott
The Dreaded "A" Word

Glen Campbell announced over the summer that he has "it".  Women's basketball coaching legend Pat Summitt announced she has "it".  Most if not all of us have been touched by "it" directly or indirectly.  My dad had "it".  So what is "it"?
