Galerie Gabriel Rolt is proud to announce 'Salomon's Knot' a solo show with new works by Jodie Carey at The New Art Gallery in Walsall. Jodie Carey works in a wide range of media, exploring ideas of time, memory and materiality, of time passing, memories fading, of absence and loss and ultimately the fragility and vulnerability of human life.

Her brand new works, commissioned and created especially for this exhibition, include a large-scale sculptural installation, with large plaster works meticulously coloured by hand, and another work suspended from the ceiling which has been hand-crocheted by the artist using thread that has been coloured using dyes created from individual flowers. Solomon's Knot is the name of the stitch used to make this work. As well as being a term deeply rooted in decorative traditions, it also has wide-ranging meanings for different cultures, often related to wisdom, knowledge and immortality as it has no end and no beginning. It is also called the Lover's Knot as the knot can be interpreted as entwined figures.

Jodie Carey studied at Goldsmith's College, London (2002-5) and the Royal College of Art (2005-7). She has since exhibited widely. Recent solo exhibitions include Pump House Gallery, London (2011), Art Forum, Berlin (2009) and Towner Art Gallery, Eastbourne (2009).

For Polish audiences, the festival is an opportunity to learn that the puppetry theatre is not only an entertainment for children, but also great art. From edition to edition the Puppet Is A Human Too festival attracts viewers and theatre groups from around the world. From over 200 applications, organizers picked 15 spectacles. As every year, an international jury will award a prizes for Best Actor, Creativity and Best Original Performance. Total amount of the awards is 10,000 euro. This year, audiences will have a chance to see spectacles from Iran, Belarus, Canada, Norway, Italy, Spain, Netherlands, Czech Republic, Costa Rica and Poland.
Puppet Is A Human Too also includes puppet exhibitions, movie shows and workshops. For seven years organizers have proved that puppetry animation is enjoying full rights in the language of film and theatre.
The festival has been organized by The Impossible Theatre Union in Warsaw since 2006. The Festival was created to fight the stereotype that the adult audience hasn't anything to look for in the art of puppetry.
