The saying that "The weak become extinct. If you can do it, you will rule the world" truly defines the word human, the greatest in the system of living things. Humans use Nature to determine the nature of their lifestyle. Through things that are real and tangible (Objective Reality) and things fictitious from the imagination (Imagined Reality), both create object-oriented forms determining meaning through symbols which are all related to nature, by passing it on through the ages, from generation to generation.
Amnat Kongwaree

JY. Tell us about your personal history, education and work.

AK. I was born and raised in Suphanburi Province. Childhood life surrounded by a family which operates a restaurant that is quite popular in the district. The government officials from all sectors stop by to eat, socialize and drink together throughout the day. It is certain that my childhood was not as much fun as that of other children. From primary school to secondary school I had to help my parents to work, waking up at 5 a.m. and having to work until I showered and dressed for school and came back to help with work until 9-10 p.m. until the shop closed, every day. Sometimes I was mischievous like children, sometimes running away from work to go play. Escaping to mingle with friends.

The shop is packed with customers every day, there are no holidays, I was forced to hang out with Grandpa and Grandma. Get on a motorbike and go to farm about 30 kilometers from home every week, because if I stay at home, I will find a way to escape from work and hang out with friends in the neighborhood.

Basic art creation was sporadic and nothing stands out. But I feel that I concentrated a lot on various activities related to creative craftsmanship. Every Friday night, I enjoyed doodling and writing until much later than usual.

When we arrived at the school, educational guidance was provided by lecturers who were seniors from the School of Dramatic Arts. I told my mother that I wanted to study dancing and wanted to play in Khon. Because I really like the character of Hanuman. Also, lecturers from the Royal Military Academy who look handsome-cool in their uniform. I wanted to be like them. But when looking at the academic scores, I decided to ask my parents' permission to follow my friends (I'm a stickler for friends) to attend a commercial college camp. I went to practice typing for 3-4 days. From all these events, I realized that I didn't have any dreams in my head and didn't know what I particularly liked or loved. And before deciding anything from all these options, orders from father and mother announced "Go study art" is the best solution and go study far away from friends. Don't stay in Suphanburi province. Afraid of being addicted to friends, afraid of inviting each other to misbehave. The only choice given was to go to Chiang Mai province.

Graduated from Mathayom 3 (15 years old) by taking the exam at a famous government vocational college, Rajamangala Institute of Technology (Jed Yot) which had a dedicated art teaching department. and also took the exam at the Thai Fine Arts School, Chiang Mai. I didn't have any relatives, only my aunt's friend's house that I never knew. But my aunt took me to get to know and live with a strange family, and this place became a serious path to study "art" which started at Rajamangala.

So it was the first long trip in my life, walking away from the embrace of family alone. I studied in Chiang Mai province in 1993-1996, where I got to know various art forms, especially graphic arts. (And I think that I became fascinated with graphic art because I liked the technique of woodcut printing.)

I had to transfer to a new place of study again in May 1996 after passing the entrance exam and enrolled in the Graphic Arts Department Faculty of Fine and Applied Arts Burapha University Chonburi Province. I entered as a 5th generation student of the Faculty of Fine and Applied Arts and 3rd generation of the Graphic Arts major. They studied all printmaking techniques according to international standards, including metal prints, woodblock prints, screen prints, and lithographs. Every school break,I rarely returned home to see my family. I came to study for a master's degree at the Faculty of Decorative Arts (2000), majoring in Applied Arts. Silpakorn University (Studying in Nakhon Pathom and Bangkok). After studying for one year, I dropped out to study for a Master's degree in Graphic Arts, Faculty of Painting, Sculpture and Graphic Arts in same university. Throughout the time I studied here from 2001-2005, I opened up new perspectives and was selected to be a special lecturer to teach lithographic techniques. (which is a printmaking technique that I had mastered). While studying in my second year at the master's level, I began to serve as an assistant in creating works using the lithographic technique.

JY. What materials do you use in your work and what are the designed patterns, the working period ?

AK. First, I would like to explain my current career status. With a variety of duties my 1st duty is to be a graphic arts teacher at the bachelor's and master's levels, with special expertise in creating in the lithographic technique of both limestone and aluminum plates. 2nd role is a contemporary printmaking artist in Thailand. It mainly relies on the creation of lithographic techniques. I have published works in various contests both domestically and abroad for more than 20 years and still create works using the lithographic technique until now. At present there are very few artists who employ this technique in Thailand because it is a complex technique. The 3rd role is to help the artist create lithograph works. in collaboration with contemporary artists of Thailand With special experiences that have their own specialties As a result, I got to work with a variety of artists, especially Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn. Princess Chulabhorn Walailak Empress Dowager Princess Krom Phra Si Sawangkhavadhana Worakhattiyarajanari, Teerawat
Kanama, Suphot Singsai, Atthasit Pokphong, Atchalinee Kessuksuk, etc.

The three roles worked together and I took turns playing different roles in different situations. If we were to mention the most important role besides being an art teacher, it would be the second duty or the status of being a contemporary graphic artist in Thailand that over time accumulates experience to a certain level

JY. Tell us about exhibitions and traveling to see work.

AK. After being hired as a full-time lecturer at the Graphic Arts Department since 2011, I was invited to be a main lecturer. Attend lectures, demonstrations and work on lithographic techniques. in many universities. And what is very important is traveling to lecture and demonstrate the creation of lithographic techniques in two major cities: in Indonesia in 2017 at the Faculty of Arts and Design Jakarta Institute of the Arts (Institute Kesenian Jakarta) and at the Institut Teknologi Bandung Jakarta and Bandung City. One teacher gave us the reason: We have money, we have a printing press, we have a place, we have students who are hungry for knowledge and want to learn but we are not ready with an instructor in lithography techniques.

In 2020, there was an event that was considered my highest honor as a lithograph teacher and a lithograph artist and as an assistant to artists creating lithographic works throughout the past several decades: The International Senefelder Award Foundation in Germany The foundation was established to honor Johann Alois Senefelder, the inventor of the lithographic printing technique in the 18th century. The foundation started holding a contest every three years (first time in 1975) to award prizes to printmaking artists whose works include both old and new styles of lithography. In 2020, the committee announced the results through a live online broadcast and announced the name of Amnat Kongwaree from Thailand. I received the First Main Prize 2020: 1st Place Winner The 12th International Senefelder Prize 2020 Senefelder Award 2020 : Offenbach, Germany.

The Senefelder Award is the highest honor in life.
