In
a distant galaxy, so
distant, but so
distant, that
Earth’s
astronomers
hadn’t even known
to name it, neither did
the aliens. It happens
that there’s a
planet belonging to
this galaxy; however,
the planet has a name:
Mickey Rooney. Why?
Because, many years
ago, a Mickeyian (as
the residents of the
planet are called)
found, lost in space, a
poster of the movie
IT'S A MAD MAD MAD
MAD WORLD. After a deep
debate within their
society, six names were
selected from the
poster: Stanley Kramer,
Spencer Tracy, Sid
Caesar, Buddy Hackett,
Ethel Merman, and
Mickey Rooney, who was
the aliens’
choice and received the
honor. Before going
ahead, I need to say
that the Mickeyians can
fly into space with
their flying bikes, but
without helmets.
Strange aliens.
In the past, many
explorers tried to find
the poster's
origin, but nobody
succeeded. They gave up
and accepted the
version that the event
was a miracle from the
stars. And now, out of
the blue, another
Mickeyian, while
playing with his
electric gadget (it
seems to be a kind of
radio) picked up, by
chance, a weird sound
coming from an unknown
planet.
And thus began the
craziest experience the
planet Mickey Rooney
had ever gone through.
Actually, it was a
podcast titled
Dumberdinkers Radio,
and it sparked great
wonder among all
Mickeyians about its
origins. By listening
to the podcast, they
discovered many things.
It introduced itself as
a Dadaist-Absurdist
Musical Podcast Comedy
Show. WTF is that? Only
by listening could one
begin to understand the
content of this comedy
group, whose members
nobody knows.
Anyway, here is a piece
transcribed from the
podcast. Maybe you,
dear reader, can listen
to it and help me
decipher this puzzle,
one worthy of the
devouring sphinx.
Losers Are The New Hype!
Success?
Wealth? Stability?
What a joke! Forget
ambition, financial
security, or having
your shit
together—those
are for losers!
According to a survey
published by the
prestigious
Dumberdinkers
Institute for Losers,
Washouts, and Over-30s
Still Living with Mom,
failure is officially
the new success!
The
study interviewed men
and women aged 20 to
45 in Blackpool and
Jaywick in the UK, and
Detroit and Cleveland
in the US. The
shocking result? A
staggering 85% of
women said
they’d rather
marry a loser than
some rich jerk.
Another funny moment is the recreation of Frankenstein.
Anyway, since Mel
Brooks’s movie
Young Frankenstein, no
parody has been this
funny. Check it out:
A
storm RAGES outside.
Machines HUMM and
SPARK. With a LOUD
ZAP!, electricity
CRACKLES through the
room. A deep, GUTTURAL
GROAN echoes from the
shadows.
DR.
FRANKENSTEIN
(breathless, dramatic
whisper): It’s
alive…
IT’S ALIIIIIVE!
Another GROAN. Then… SILENCE.
CREATURE
(drowsy, confused):
Uhhh…
what’s the Wi-Fi
password?
DR. FRANKENSTEIN (baffled): Wi-Fi… WHAT?
CREATURE: Also… do you have TikTok? I need to go viral.
IGOR,
the doctor’s
assistant, facepalms
with an ANNOYED SIGH.
IGOR: Oh no, Dr. Frankenstein! You made an influencer.
DR.
FRANKENSTEIN
(horrified
realization):
NOOOOO…WHAT HAVE
I DONE?
In addition to these
hilarious moments, the
podcast offers plenty
of songs, sharp
political commentary,
art, cultural insights,
harmful themes, and
innocuous ones, a
perfect buffet for all
tastes, always served with humor.
Meanwhile, on Planet
Mickey Rooney, after
listening to the
podcast, the Science
Institute on the Stars
finally discovered the
origin of that crazy
show. It came from
Planet Earth, where
people believe in doing
bad to achieve good,
and sometimes do good,
but everything ends
badly.
They set off on the
mission and came here.
But after many searches
on our planet, they
didn’t find
anything, only that it
is produced in London,
UK, without discovering
the exact location.
This means they still
do not know who the
people behind this
incredible show are,
nor who Lenny Consolo
is—the head
writer of the programs
and the many voices of
Dumberdinkers Radio.
But not to waste the
trip, they abducted a
street artist who had
just painted a girl
with a red balloon on a
wall.
END
Warning: The
podcast is 100% real.
The aliens are not
(yet). Where are Banksy
and Lenny Consolo?
